There are places in this world that hold a special place in our hearts, and for me, that place is Mġarr – my hometown. It's a place where memories are made, and moments are cherished forever. And on Sunday 5th February, Mġarr showed me just how much it loves me back.
I was presented with the honor of recognition from the Mġarr Local Council during the event ‘Ġieħ l-Imġarr’, and it was a moment I will never forget. The love and support of the community was evident in the numerous nominations I received, and I am filled with gratitude. This recognition was for my resilience during my healing journey and for spreading positivity throughout society.
Mġarr is a place where I have played barefoot in its streets and learned to appreciate the simple things in life. The village is known for its motto, "Small, but with a big heart" and it’s a statement that still holds true today. The community is ever-growing, but so is the kindness and warmth of the people of this village.
During my healing journey, Mġarr became my haven. The community rallied around me, offering me courage, support, and love. It was during this time that I realized that the people of Mġarr were not just my neighbours, they were my family. Their love and support helped me to heal, and I will always be grateful for that.
Now, as I raise my children in Mġarr, I am filled with joy knowing they will grow up surrounded by love and kindness. This recognition from the local council is a reminder of the love I have for Mġarr and the love it has for me.
So, here's a love letter to my hometown, Mġarr. Thank you for the memories, the love, and the support. You will always hold a special place in my heart.
Below is a video of the moment I received the honor, the language is Maltese with English subtitles. Enjoy!
